Peter White Website

Peter White first gained fame with his distinctive guitar style accompanying Al Stewart. During a 20-year tenure with Stewart, he co-wrote many songs, including Stewart's 1978 top-ten hit "Time Passages". In the late 1980s, White accompanied Basia on a series of acclaimed albums. In 1996, Basia was featured on White's album Caravan of Dreams, with vocals on the single "Just Another Day". Peter White won the award for best Smooth Jazz Musician in the 2007 Canadian Smooth Jazz Awards. He was named the Best Guitarist at the National Smooth Jazz Awards for four consecutive years from 2000-2003. In 2000, White won three Oasis Smooth Jazz Awards. White's latest CD on Peak Records, Good Day, marks his eleventh solo release.

Euge Groove Website

Born in Hagerstown, Maryland, Euge Groove graduated from the University of Miami School of Music in 1984. A rather late-bloomer in the genre, Groove did not record his first solo album until 2000. Prior to that, he had replaced Richard Elliot in the Tower of Power when Elliot decided to pursue a solo career, and he also did session work with various pop acts, most noticeably the Miami girl group Expose. He has a sax solo on their #1 hit "Seasons Change," and another on their 1993 hit "I'll Never Get Over You (Getting Over Me)." Grove adopted the name Euge Groove, which consists of a shortening of his middle name and a very frequent mispronunciation of his last. While initially it was presumed to be coined by fans who saw him perform in Europe, Grove later indicated in an interview on XM Radio during the summer of 2006 that his Mother-in-Law conceived the idea for his stage name. Euge Groove's best-known solo hits include "Sneak a Peek," "Slam Dunk," "Rewind," "Don't let me be lonely tonight," "Livin' Large" and "XXL." His most recent hits include "Get 'Em Going" and "Chillaxin'." Solid albums include; Born 2 Groove (2006), Livin' Large (2004) and Play Date (2002). He has recently released another album, titled "Sunday Morning." In 2008 he went on Tour with the legendary Tina Turner.

Grammy nominated guitarist, singer and songwriter Bill Kirchen is one of the fortunate few who can step onto any stage, play those trademark licks that drove his seminal Commander Cody classic Hot Rod Lincoln into the Top Ten, and elicit instant recognition for a career that has spanned over 40 years and includes guitar work with Nick Lowe, Emmylou Harris, Doug Sahm, Elvis Costello and many more. Named “A Titan of the Telecaster” by Guitar Player Magazine, he celebrates an American musical tradition where rock 'n' roll and country music draws upon its origins in blues and bluegrass, Western swing from Texas and California honky-tonk. Beautiful, but not brazen. Passionate, but never preachy. Populist, but definitely not prosaic. New York City singer-songwriter, pianist and beatboxer Rachel Platten is by no means your average headliner-in-the-making. Her Rock Ridge Music debut, Be Here, is a bewitching collection of 10 wise-beyond-their-years piano-driven pop songs that echo elements of Alanis Morissette, Carole King, Tori Amos and Regina Spektor, while retaining a singular sense of self that is rarely found in such a young performer. Be Here was born over the course of an epic trans-Atlantic journey that took the singer-songwriter from London to Los Angeles, on to Stockholm and then back home to New York City. At each stop, she collaborated with top-tier production teams, including Fredrik Thomander (Nsync, Lady Gaga), Jerry Abbott and Grant Black (Robbie Williams, Craig David) and the Wizardz of Oz (Britney Spears, Avril Lavigne). The results are immediately appealing, spirit lifting, heartwarming and mind opening no matter where in the world you are.

The New York Times calls his work “classic pop perfection.” As a modern day singer–songwriter, Chris is most known for his song THIS TIME, the Number 1 selling song on the Grammy nominated soundtrack for AUGUST RUSH (Robin Williams, Jonathan Rhys Meyers – Warner Bros Pictures). A prolific songwriter, Chris can boast high profile film placements including There’s Something About Mary (Ben Stiller, Cameron Diaz), The Devil Wears Prada (Meryl Streep), Say It Isn’t So (Heather Graham) and Gun Shy (Sandra Bullock, Liam Neeson) as well as significant television placements including All My Children, Women’s Murder Club, Malcolm In The Middle, a coveted placement in George Clooney’s final episode of ER, the theme song for WB Networks dramedy Pepper Dennis and a cameo on–screen appearance with the show’s star, Rebecca Romjin. RubberBand is a perfect name for Ryan Shupe and his band of amazing musicians. The group is known for its ability to stretch out musically in all directions, pinging back and forth with a joyful spontaneity most bands could barely imagine, let alone achieve. Each member possesses years of experience on his respective instrument and when the band comes together on tunes like the bouncy "Don't Leave Me Lonely," or the frenetically fun title track, "Last Man Standing," their collective talent is explosive and undeniable. The five man band, hailing from the Salt Lake City, Utah, is a breath of fresh air in an age where much of the music is over-produced, "practically to death," and their organic approach to performing has built them quite a following, not only through the West but around the rest of the country as well. Lead singer Ryan Shupe originally formed the band as an outlet for his songwriting but it soon took on a life all its own, becoming bigger than anything he could have originally imagined.

Genre: Jazz

Four80East is the brainchild of producers Rob DeBoer and Tony Grace, also known internationally for their indie label/production house, Boomtang. Born in 1997 as a small indie UK release, “The Album” went on to revitalize the Smooth Jazz world the following summer when the first single, “Eastside”, broke through in the US to became the seventh most-played track on Contemporary Jazz radio that year. Their sound lies at the forefront of what has been called the nu jazz movement – taking the best of contemporary jazz and pop styles and aligning them to produce a improvisational dance-infused sound. This Toronto-based group draws from a variety of sources to make their music happen, including found sounds, field recordings and sound effects alongside their finely crafted studio recordings. As with many so-called “acid jazz” groups, their music is not clearly defined as smooth jazz or any other type of jazz for that matter. Four80East operates on a plane that expresses their own stylized ability under an umbrella of electrified and funky vibes. They have a pronounced R&B influence that fills in the layers between jazz and soul. Improvisational by nature, their recordings are filled with club-inspired beats, exotic rhythms and soulful melodies, some of which are tied to interwoven vocals. A unique sound that can only be described as “Four80East”.

On Gift Horse, their second album for Vanguard and fifth studio effort overall, Stephen Kellogg and his bandmates— Kit “Goose” Karlson (keys, bass, vocals), Brian “Boots” Factor (drums, vocals) and Sam “Steamer” Getz (guitars, vocals)—bring the rich legacy of American rock & roll into the present tense. This is thrilling music, muscular, immediate and life-embracing, steeped in tradition but addressing the present moment boldly and eloquently.Gift Horse stands as an unambiguous statement of belonging and persevering during these times—the record is as straightforward, and as resonant, as that. “I’ve been putting out records for 10 years now and I’ve made plenty of mistakes, Kellogg says. “They say you get one shot, but I don’t believe that for a second. You get as many shots as you’re willing to hang in there and go for. We’ve learned a lot, and that’s worth something to me. I’m trying to focus on the things that are real and within my grasp: the people who come to our shows and listen to the music, my kids and my wife and my friends.” There’s nothing hidden or tentative about Kellogg’s music or the values he stands for. If you’ve been itching to crank up some bracing, timeless rock & roll that speaks to these values loudly and proudly, then Gift Horse is exactly what you’ve been waiting for.

Saints are a melodic, guitar driven brit rock band consisting of Brothers Rob and Lewi Gault from Glasgow, Scotland and American rockers Blaine Schult and Zack Martinson. Saints chose to base themselves in Denver, CO after Rob moved there in 2004. 4 years in, frustration at the missed opportunities of not having a full time musical outlet caused Rob to pick up the phone to Scotland and ask Lewi to come out and start a new band. Lewi, similarly frustrated and itching for a change of scenery from greater Glasgow’s grey skies and endless drizzle, didn’t waste any time in selling several possessions to fund the trip out. Not long after, Rob played some demo songs to Blaine, a friend of one year who was immediately keen to ditch his sales gig and pick his guitar back up. Next up was Bass player Zack, a Denverite born and raised who, as soon as he played the 1st note in his audition, was immediately voted to be in the band.

Nashville, Tennessee is a nexus – a point where tradition and innovation intersect, where commerce collides with art. It may be the only town around where salaried songwriters and full-time session musicians are as common as accountants and schoolteachers. Music is the product, and the factories line the street, from the swank Music Row mini-high-rises to the low-slung Sylvan Park bungalows. And only Nashville could give birth to a band like the SteelDrivers: a group of seasoned veterans – each distinguished in his or her own right, each valued in the town’s commercial community – who are seizing an opportunity to follow their hearts to their souls’ reward. In doing so, they are braiding their bluegrass roots with new threads of their own design, bringing together country, soul, and other contemporary influences to create an unapologetic hybrid that is old as the hills but fresh as the morning dew. This is new music with the old feeling. SteelDrivers fan Vince Gill describes the band’s fusion as simply “an incredible combination.”

By the late 1970s, trailblazing keyboardist/composer/producer Jeff Lorber had become a prominent figure in the new movement known as jazz fusion – a marriage of traditional jazz with elements of rock, R&B, funk and other electrified sounds. Lorber and his band, the Jeff Lorber Fusion, first honed their craft in the Portland, Oregon, club scene and rapidly expanded their reach to a national and international audience via a combination of complex harmonies, unconventional time signatures and compelling rhythms. In subsequent years, Lorber dropped the term “fusion” from his billing as the movement evolved into what is currently known as contemporary jazz. Still, he continued to explore the innovative, improvisational potential of grafting other musical forms to the jazz idiom. More than three decades after his earliest recordings, Lorber has come full circle. His new recording, Galaxy, set for release January 31, 2012, on Heads Up International, a division of Concord Music Group, revisits a sound he helped pioneer. The album takes the experiment that he started with his last GRAMMY®-nominated CD, Now is the Time, up a notch with 11 exciting and energetic new compositions performed by some of the biggest names in jazz today. Core members Lorber, bassist Jimmy Haslip and saxophonist Eric Marienthal are in rare form, aided by the explosive playing of drummer Vinnie Colaiuta and guest appearances by trumpeter Randy Brecker, percussionist Lenny Castro, guitarists Paul Jackson Jr. and Larry Koonse, and drummer Dave Weckl.

You could call it an attraction...a curiosity...an anticipation of surprise and delight. But there's a better word to describe what the music of The Greencards inspires. Fascination. If you've followed this multinational threesome over these past five years, you know the feeling. From their personal histories through the content of their work, grounded in deep musical tradition but elevated by breathtaking technique and conceptual adventurousness, there is ample reason for interest ... for excitement ... For Fascination. Now, with their Sugar Hill Records debut, it's official. Fascination describes the essence of this band. It was, first of all, their fascination with American roots music - bluegrass especially - that drew singer/bassist Carol Young and multiple string-instrument master Kym Warner from Australia to Austin, Texas, where they began performing together, and later to their current home base in Nashville. That urge to challenge themselves, to test the limits of any established genre, guided them on their first three albums. It kept them focused as they accumulated awards and acclamations, from the Americana Music Award in 2006 for "Emerging Artist of the Year" through tours with Bob Dylan and Willie Nelson to last year's "Best Country Instrumental Performance" Grammy nomination for "Mucky The Duck," a track from Viridian in 2008, and another in 2010 for "The Crystal Merchant" from Fascination.

Griffin House
With Charlie Mars

Genre: Singer/Songwriter
Doors: 7:00PM
Show: 8:00PM

A Nashville-based musician with a Midwestern upbringing, Griffin House spikes his pop/rock songwriting with a dose of rootsy, atmospheric Americana. House was born and raised in Ohio, where he eventually discovered his musical gifts while attending Miami University in Oxford. Inspired by Bruce Springsteen, Woody Guthrie, and the Mermaid Avenue albums by Wilco and Billy Bragg, House embraced the craft of songwriting and issued several albums as an independent artist. His mix of sentimental melodies, ambient guitars, and sparse arrangements attracted attention from Nettwerk, a Vancouver-based record label, and House soon partnered with the label's American branch to issue Lost & Found in 2004. Several self-released albums followed, and House signed with RCA before issuing Flying Upside Down, a folk-rock album recorded with members of Tom Petty's Heartbreakers. Although originally available via iTunes in 2007, the record was released in stores early the following year, followed in 2010 by his second album for the Nettwerk label, The Learner.

Ottmar Liebert and Luna Negra

Genre: New Age/World
Doors: 6:00PM
Show: 7:00PM

Ottmar Liebert's incredible global success on a musical level often seems like a simple outgrowth of his cultural background and powerful wanderlust in his formative years. Born in Cologne, Germany to Chinese-German father and Hungarian mother, he began playing guitar at 11, and traveled extensively through Europe and Asia intent on fully absorbing each musical tradition he encountered. After pursuing his Rock and Roll dreams first in his native Germany and then in Boston, he abandoned the frustrations of the East coast and settled in Santa Fe, New Mexico. In 1989, he founded the first incarnation of his new band Luna Negra. Nouveau Flamenco began life as a self-produced local release called Marita: Shadows and Storms, copies of which local Indian artist Frank Howell distributed in his art galleries. When the record found its way to radio stations and began generating a buzz among programmers and an unprecedented response among listeners, Higher Octave Music picked it up and released a fully remastered version. Liebert has since become one of the most successful instrumental artists of the past decade, thrilling audiences throughout the world and releasing a catalog of classic recordings, including the remix collection Euphoria (1995), the live album Viva! (1995), the double CD Opium (1996) and the classical-oriented orchestral album Leaning into the Night (1997). He wrapped up his decade with Epic with 2001's Little Wing and went back to Higher Octave Music, releasing a lush album of lullabies called In the Arms of Love in 2002 and an album with Luna Negra XL called The Santa Fe Sessions (2003). La Semana (2004) was the first all-new band album in five years, followed by Winter Rose (2005), which featured original pieces, classical music and christmas songs. In 2006 Liebert's record label SSRI released One Guitar, his first solo guitar recording, which received Liebert's fourth nomination for a Grammy. His newest releases are Up Close (2008), which is a binaural dummy head surround sound recording, and The Scent of Light (2008) a labor of five years.

The Malone Brothers
with Special Guest

Genre: Americana
Doors: 7:00PM
Show: 8:00PM

Dave and Tommy Malone, two of Louisiana's greatest guitarist singer-songwriters, have joined forces to form one of the most exciting new lineups in American music. Both men have spent most of their adult lives in legendary bands, but when Dave's band "The Radiators" called it quits in June of 2011 and Tommy's band "the subdudes" decided to go on hiatus, the stage was set for the long awaited Malone Brothers band. The two had grown up in Edgard, Louisiana, and after high school they moved to their birthplace...New Orleans... and formed Dustwoofie, a popular band among Tulane University students. The brothers later worked together in groups such as the Malone Rangers and Monkey Ranch but their current collaboration is their most fully realized musical entity yet. The brothers are both superb accompanists as well as leaders, making their trade-off even more exciting. Separately and together they have written numerous great songs recorded by their own bands and other world famous musicians and are revered for their guitaristic excellence. The combination is a musical experience that fans of both men have wanted to hear for years. - John Swenson

Kelly Joe Phelps
with Special Guest

Genre:
Doors: 7:00PM
Show: 8:00PM

A writer for the San Diego Troubadour described guitarist and songwriter Kelly Joe Phelps as, “The Phantom Monk Of Folk- Blues,” and rightly so. Throughout his 18 years on the road and 8 solo CD releases, Phelps has been talked about as much for his passionate, spirit-driven, solitary musical ways as for the inventiveness of his playing and singing. A New York Times concert reviewer wrote: “...his airy playing conjuring a pocket of supernatural space. He manipulated his fretboard to create eerie harmonics as he slipped from a mumble to a falsetto, as if to follow the soul beyond the physical realm.” Uncut Magazine, reviewing a London show, wrote: “...to ripple and snake into unknown territory for the country blues he allegedly played, to squeeze out sounds touching the searching jazz that had once been his trade, to mutate through more layers than twelve strings should hold. And the songs; their pleas for mercy beyond the grave healed the spirit in ways disbelievers, in Bibles or Blues, could feel.”
