***THIS IS FOR THE 7PM SHOW***

Born in Hagerstown, Maryland, Euge Groove graduated from the University of Miami School of Music in 1984. A rather late-bloomer in the genre, Groove did not record his first solo album until 2000. Prior to that, he had replaced Richard Elliot in the Tower of Power when Elliot decided to pursue a solo career, and he also did session work with various pop acts, most noticeably the Miami girl group Expose. He has a sax solo on their #1 hit "Seasons Change," and another on their 1993 hit "I'll Never Get Over You (Getting Over Me)." Grove adopted the name Euge Groove, which consists of a shortening of his middle name and a very frequent mispronunciation of his last. While initially it was presumed to be coined by fans who saw him perform in Europe, Grove later indicated in an interview on XM Radio during the summer of 2006 that his Mother-in-Law conceived the idea for his stage name. Euge Groove's best-known solo hits include "Sneak a Peek," "Slam Dunk," "Rewind," "Don't let me be lonely tonight," "Livin' Large" and "XXL." His most recent hits include "Get 'Em Going" and "Chillaxin'." Solid albums include; Born 2 Groove (2006), Livin' Large (2004) and Play Date (2002). He has recently released another album, titled "Sunday Morning." In 2008 he went on Tour with the legendary Tina Turner.

Genre: Country/Rock
Doors: 7:00PM
Show: 8:00PM

They've been called "country," "alt-country," and "outlaw country," but the phrase that best describes the Railbenders is "hard country." This Denver band plays unabashed, straight-no-chaser music that pulls no punches and offers no apologies for the love of some of the finer things in life: whiskey, women, song, and good timin' friends. While their songs are soaked in traditional country influence, their punk background gives them a jagged edge appeal.

Chuck Prophet
with John Common & Blinding Flashes of Light

Genre: Rock
Doors: 8:00PM
Show: 9:00PM

Chuck Prophet shapes his restless career with inimitable subtle flair: a vivid parade of razor- edged one-liners camouflaged in a slack-jawed drawl, songs about heartbreak and everyman heroism, drenched in twisted lines of rude Telecaster. When the early stages of a financial melt-down coincided with a rare San Francisco heat wave in the summer of 2008, with the window open wide and Dwight Twilley, Iggy, Thin Lizzy and the Knack blaring out of the hi-fi, Prophet wrote a collection of political songs for non-political people. Later, in April 2009, he journeyed to Mexico City, where, in the clutches of a Swine Flu panic and earthquakes, he recorded !Let Freedom Ring!, his most incendiary record, every bit as urgent as the title demands. His search for a new perspective paid off, much like at eighteen when he left his native Whittier, CA for San Francisco, which he still calls home, and before too long joined Green on Red, a gang of interloping Arizonans with no small impact on L.A.'s Paisley Underground. During an eight-year run with Green on Red, he cut his first major label session with legendary Memphis producer Jim Dickinson, burned through a couple of big record deals, and ventured a debut solo effort, Brother Aldo (1990). These were the first steps in the career that shaped Prophet into a prolific rock 'n' roll classicist. But now, he has created his career high-water mark. !Let Freedom Ring! wanders into the fractured, surreal state of the American Dream and emerges with the most vital document of Prophet's vision, a reflection of life and love for troubled times. To untangle topics so knotted, Prophet uses only the most essential language: little else but whip-smart one-liners, a guitar in each channel and a backbeat. There are glimpses in the rear-view mirror of American rock 'n' roll - names like Eddie Cochran and an instinct for lean guitar tunes - but the meat's fresh. There's everything from the capitalist hustle and the immigrant struggle to the impulse to forget it all with a lusty Saturday night.

Doors: 7:00PM
Show: 8:00PM

Singer/songwriter/guitarist Jonatha Brooke has been issuing albums that merge folk and pop since the early '90s, first as a member of a duo called the Story and then later as a solo artist. Brooke's solo debut, 1995's Plumb, was credited to Jonatha Brooke & the Story. But Brooke was the sole creditor beginning with 1997's 10 Cent Wings, which also marked a shift from her earlier folk-pop to more of a radio-friendly style. This continued on such further releases as 1999's Live and 2001's Steady Pull, the latter of which was co-produced by Brooke and renowned studioman Bob Clearmountain (who has worked with the likes of Bryan Adams, the Rolling Stones, the Corrs, and Hall & Oates, among countless others). Beginning in the late '90s, Brooke's albums were issued via her very own record label, Bad Dog; while in 2002, Brooke performed a pair of songs on Disney's Return to Never Land soundtrack, contributing an original composition ("I'll Try") and a cover ("The Second Star to the Right"). In 2004, Brooke performed a set of ten shows at the Public Theater in New York, the highlights of which were collected for the 2006 release of Live in New York, complete with a DVD of the concert. Careful What You Wish For followed in 2007.

Pieces of A Dream

Genre: Smooth Jazz
Doors: 6:00PM
Show: 7:00PM

***2 SHOWS! THIS IS FOR THE 7PM SHOW!***

Pieces of a Dream emerged out of Philadelphia's music scene in 1976. Keyboardist James Lloyd, drummer Curtis Harmon and former bassist Cedric Napoleon, were (and still are) managed by the drummer's father and uncle, Danny and Bill Harmon, respectively. The group based their name on Pieces of Dreams, a cover tune by Stanley Turrentine that the group performed. Pieces of a Dream first started playing throughout the Tri-State area, and were soon featured on Temple University's pioneering jazz radio station, WRTI-FM. Long before the "Young Lions" era of Wynton Marsalis, Lloyd and Harmon were swinging so hard as teenagers that the great Count Basie once proclaimed them "a tough act to follow." But it was another jazz legend, the late Grover Washington Jr., the sax man who made Philadelphia his home, who helped Pieces of a Dream become the internationally known stars they are today. After quickly becoming popular around Philadelphia, the trio landed a spot as the house band for a local television show called City Lights. Their experience widened as they played backup on the broadcasts to a wide variety of artists, and that's where Washington first heard them. One day while the teenagers were playing at the Bijou (where Grover had recorded his Live at the Bijou album), he sat in with them to play "Mr. Magic." Soon Washington announced that he was starting a production company and that Pieces of a Dream would be his first act. Lloyd was only a senior in high school when his first record came out. "That felt awesome," recalls 38-year-old Lloyd. "Not just having an album out, but going all over the world touring and performing with Grover." From 1981 to 1984, Pieces of a Dream built their reputation with three albums on Elektra that would come to define the musical essence of the smooth jazz radio explosion: Pieces of a Dream, We Are One and Imagine This. Those seminal records yielded some of their earliest hits, including "Warm Weather," "Mount Airy Groove" and "Fo Fi Fo." Soon after completing Joyride, their last effort for Elektra, Pieces of a Dream moved to EMI/Blue Note and went on to record seven more albums. During this period, the group amicably parted ways with long time friend Cedric Napoleon.

Implying a beguiling blend of paradox and wonder - a circumference of over two thousand miles appearing fingernail thin from Earth - the title Little Moon handily encapsulates the tiny triumph that is Grant-Lee Phillips' new album. Uncluttered but undeniably powerful, briskly recorded but a lifetime in the making, Little Moon finds Phillips letting go of his inhibitions and his ego just as he approaches the pinnacle of his abilities as a songwriter, vocalist, and bandleader. "Because I so often find myself alone with a guitar, be it at home, on stage, in a hotel," he reflects, "I've become more and more comfortable stripping away a lot of the artifice that comes with making a record. My albums are becoming more stark, more unguarded, and more vulnerable. This is the most unselfconscious record I have made - ever."

Dave Alvin, Grammy Award winning singer-songwriter and self-described "barroom guitarist," is widely considered to be one of the pivotal founders of the current Americana music scene. Since forming the highly influential roots rock/R+B band The Blasters, with his brother Phil in 1979, and throughout his long and critically acclaimed solo career, Dave Alvin has mixed his varied musical and literary influences into his own unique, updated version of traditional American music. In the mid 1970s, Spyro Gyra crafted a unique new sound - inspired by jazz fusion, pop and R&B - and released their debut album on their own label in 1976. Their records were both artistically challenging and commercially successful, and embraced world rhythms, including Caribbean, African and Brazilian sounds. Morning Dance, their first album with a major label, was released in 1979, spawned a Top 40 single, and eventually went platinum. Spyro Gyra went on to build a large and incredibly loyal fan base around the world that continues to this day.
